Upgrade your CEET/CST to passenger window video
For several years Cabin Crew Safety has offered a neat little black box of electronics among its range of manufactured solutions specifically for crew training; a digital media player. This versatile little box will play back standard audio, still images and video from a Compact Flash card and represents the most cost effective way on the market to upgrade a CST or CEET training rig, starting from as little as $1000 USD per window.
In window video has been a part of flight crew simulation training for many years and more recently still video images have been appearing at DT windows. Once installed the high capital investment in replacing an airlines existing CEET is unlikely and therefore upgrading the existing CEET is a far better solution. Pressure on training budgets and makes any upgrade project a cost/benefit negotiation within the business.
The digital media player has seen many years of service in a variety of demanding markets but was developed to provide a rugged method of playing digital media files but at a low cost (Current list price is £175 [Approx $275 USD]) which includes a 4GB Compact Flash Card and 12VDC power supply).
The unit can play standard WAV, MP3, JPG, PNG, AVI and MP4 files which can be added, changed or modified using any PC/MAC with software capable of producing or editing such files. With such a versatile device several can be used within one passenger cabin training mock up to play all of the sound and video media required for training scenario realism.
Coupled the digital media player with one of a range of industrial monitors, a monitor cover to keep things tidy when its mounted outside the window of the CEET and that's it pretty much it for the hardware. No computers, servers, licenses, down-time or ongoing cost. The core components for upgrading to video or still images for around $1000 USD per passenger cabin window*.
Load the Compact Flash card up with your own specific images or choose from the growing training media library of still images and video/CGI images or commission the media team at Cabin Crew Safety to come up with something specific to your airline, academy and training programme.
The cabin window video player CEET upgrade solution has already been used to upgrade existing passenger cabin training devices at British Airways and Virgin Atlantic in the UK and is due delivery to mainland Europe as this article is published.
*It should be noted that the media player needs a method of control if the application demands more than one media file and there is a small amount of installation work required, which are not included in this figure. For DT windows we recommend our wireless radio control system is also included in the project solution as this eliminates any wear on wires the are flexed when the cabin door is opened and closed.
